Any closer then you'll feel the heat. Alrighty, I am back from all the hustle and bustle from attachment + NYAA camp @ Port Dickson! Currently now sick, but really on the road to recovery. Time to give my body a break, i guess! Let's start from work attachment, since I've to blog about it. Definitely not on this blog, but elsewhere. Shall go into brief detail so this can act as a reminder on what to blog about for reflections! Soooooo, 14-18 Nov was my attachment with DBS. Was attached there with 9 other people - 'DBS Kids'! :) Honestly, it wasn't really an attachment la. We did mostly touring and stuff, and one day branch attachment + the final day project. Other than that, we didn't have to do real paperwork or anything. Well of course, we are just but JC kiddos. :) So, day 1 went pretty awkwardly. Only a few familiar faces from choir, and the rest.. i really didn't know them. First day was basically spent stuck in the Singapore room on the 18th level. And oh, to digress abit, THE VIEW IS AHHHHMAZING!! really really pretty. :) heehee. And ah yes, back to the point.. Day 1 was mainly just talks and talks and talks. Really boring stuff. Went Amoy Street for a taste of tissue paper chope-ing and chicken rice. Headed to *scape DBS Remix branch and then had a short briefing and tour and that was all! Met the Brah after that for din din and catch up time. ^^ Day 2 was a little more fun la. Branch attachment was crazy. Stood around in heels for nearly 4 hours trying to get 10 surveys completed. Was paired up with an awesome buddy at Hong Lim. He even helped me with one survey so i had to finish only 9 surveys! Headed to eat the yummmmmmy soy sauce chicken then got on the bus with the rest of the 'kids' to Asia Hub. We toured the superrrr awesome contact centre, and had more talks. Day 3 was really more interesting. By this day, my legs just couldn't take it cos of all the blisters so I wore flats from this day on. Had a GSMC talk by a cjc alumnus, and I must say, marketing is really cool. One sector i actually considered besides journalism. yknow, the advertising aspect. :) Did an impromptu project within an hour and my mini group won! YAYEEE. :) Toured the uber cool trading floor later, and saw like people facing 8 screens monitoring the stocks and whatever else. REALLY awesomeeeeee. ^^ Started the prep on our project and we all joked around and stuff. Left DBS Towers and headed for 1T25 bbq at Coasta Sands which was... really interesting? HAHA. AWESOME SAMBAL STINGRAY ^^ Day 4 was spent entirely doing our project. Supposed to be at AsiaHub which is like at expo, but we managed to have it our way and spent the day at towers! Our 2 teams decided not to compete against each other, so we came up with a joint idea. :) Last day was eventful. Spent 2+ hours presenting on our proposed ideas and stuff, and the staff commented that we all were confident speakers. PW in general really does help! The whole project was like, PW over again in just one day. Oh, and OP did help alot too. :D Had catered buffet lunch which was yummyyyyy, and they gave us comments, and prizes (parker pens!) to those who spoke up more during the whole attachment, and I got one of those pens! heehee. :) Presented the main people with the little gifts we made and all, and said goodbye at about 230! MAD EARLY. Headed to cine with them (minus one) and rented Grown Ups to watch. Left 3/4 way of the movie and met Aaron for din din. DIN TAI FUNGGGG. Although i still prefer CJ's xlb... hehehe. But oh boy, i really ate so little. Guess i was real full from the Starbucks the staff treated us too. HEHE. :) Headed to Singapore Concert Hall for combined choir+band concert, and to lau pa sat (which is scary btw, if only us girls went alone) for satay supper! I guess overall I had a really really good DBS experience. I know its just a taste, and of course there are horrible and dirty politics, possibly. But its an environment i may consider as one of my career stops, yknow, before i really settle down into a job that I love i future. :) Alright, so I've talked so much about DBS, I am now lazy to talk about port dickson, so just a brief one! Port dickson was really fun, and I got to know loadssssss of people. ELMOOOOOOO! We won on the final day, from our overall scores. I still dk what made us win, what helped us gain so much points, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise. :) We were all winners as well! Basically, we just got really muddy from bee drill (where we had to lie smack in the mud, and our faces are like barely an inch from the mud), wet from rafting (which i couldn't go :( ), and of course team challenges like getting over the walls and stuff. And of course, mud again. -.- It rained on the first 2 nights so night walk was cancelled twice, but the finale night was really awesome. Thank God for no rain at all! The night was really awesomeeeeeeeee. Oh, and did i mention for outdoor cooking we had to use flour somehow, and my group made PANCAKES?! freaking gooooood, especially for me, a pancake noob, making it from SCRATCH for the first time in my life. I went crazy when i made like 4 super round pancakes. I was squealing with joy, heehee. And of course, its thanks to my groupmates who helped eat + Mr See, this awesome chem teacher that was our group teacher, who helped me with the batter as well! He kept saying 'too thick pour more milk' HAHAHA. Well, of course through this camp I became closer to some of my classmates as well, and I'm super grateful for awesome people like them. Y'know, I've come to realise why God has given me 12 points for O's, and blessed me with the entry to CJC. Honestly, with my net score, my probability of getting into CJ even was hard. But somehow, I got in. I admit, I cried so badly when I first saw the JAE text, but I guess with people cheering me on and knowing I will find out why I'm placed in CJC in the future, PLUS, a whole year of trying to trust in God and be more positive, I finally realised why. :) I mean, If i didn't enter CJ, i wouldn't have gotten opportunities like 1. Flame Scholarship 2. GWH Choir + Germany 3. Selected for DBS + Got to go 4. Port Dickson 5. Batam (which was sadly cancelled ytd :( ) and many many more! These are all that i can rmb offhand, but i'm sure there are more. I've gotten so many opportunities, and I'm really grateful. And now seeing all these and how God has planned everything for me even before I came to CJ, I trust that whatever he has planned for my A level journey, is gonna be good and hopefully, awesome. :) I know i know, its not exactly the end of the year, but its nice to do a little thanksgiving and reflection since I'm blogging now. Who knows, lazy me will probably not blog till after KL even. Pfft! Ah well, that reminds me, I still have to get integration done + revise through J1 work! Really hope I can catch up next year. SCARY SCARY. Goodbye for now, and I promise, I'll try to blog soon! :) What today could have been |
